Robert Morris University had a clear vision for their new facilities center. The opportunity to bring that vision to fruition in a cost effective manner presented itself when an existing building very close to the Moon campus became available. After consulting Landau about pricing and scheduling, RMU opted to purchase the property.
The 9,000 SF addition and 25,000 SF renovation was designed, permitted and built in 4.5 months. There were no formal drawings. In many instances, design happened minutes before construction. The budget and fast track schedule drove the project. There was constant communication and coordination between RMU and Landau. All decisions were made in the owner’s best interest. Where necessary, Landau involved experts to solve unique problems. Alternate construction methods were continuously proposed to achieve RMU’s goals in the most efficient manner.
“The project team worked very well together, meeting at least weekly due to the aggressive Phase I schedule and the fact that the design continued to evolve as construction progressed.”
