| ARCHITECT: |

| LOCATION: |
Sewickley, Pennsylvania |
The original Sewickley Train Station was constructed in early 1920. Maintaining the historic integrity and period of this building while incorporating a contemporary interior was the goal of this 10,000 square foot design/build project.
This was a competitively bid job that was over budget. Landau Building Company guided the owner to meet his needs while maintaining the architect’s design and bring the project back within budget. A
savings of twenty-five percent was achieved. The exterior masonry was cleaned and repointed, all windows were replaced to match existing ones, and a new roof was installed with old style slate shingles to maintain the original look of the building. The original wood bracket moldings, soffits and brickwork were also refurbished.
The interior was completely renovated to a contemporary environment for the building’s new function as a dermatological practice. It included an elaborate configuration of existing and new vaulted ceilings, circular columns, mirrors and beautiful case work.
The existing ticket window in the station was maintained and now functions as a juice bar for patients in the waiting area, which was the former primary public space of the train station.
As a result, the Sewickley Train Stain is an extremely successful historic renovation.
